Perth and Kinross Disability Sport

No Cost Participation Underpins Everything we do

Why we exist

Perth & Kinross Disability Sport (PKDS) was founded on a simple principle. Regardless of ability, sport and physical activity is for everyone. We exist to inspire, encourage and support people of all ages and abilities with a physical, sensory or learning disability to become more active.

The Reality

We want to level the playing field. Right now, there are people throughout Perth & Kinross that would like to become more physically active. Whether you want to get fit, meet new people, learn new skills, progress in your chosen sport, or just have fun, we’re here for you. We know it can be a little bit intimidating starting something new, but we’re committed to supporting you at every stage.

My message to anyone who isn’t sure, is to come down, give it a try, because you never know what you’ll enjoy.” Cadyn Thomson

No Cost Participation

We’re committed to our #NoCostParticipation approach which sees our PKDS weekly sessions, competitive events, education courses and programs are delivered at no cost to the participant.

How We Can Help You

PKDS will do whatever we can to create opportunities for sports and physical activity throughout every corner of Perth & Kinross. Here’s how we do that.

Connecting

We bring people together. Sometimes that means introducing individuals with coaches or clubs where they can experience new activities for the first time. We can also connect aspiring athletes of all levels with specialist support to suit their needs.

Engaging

We engage our community. We work in partnership with Active Schools, Live Active Leisure, Perth & Kinross Council, NHS Tayside, local disability service organisations and a wide range of sports clubs. Together we identify opportunities to introduce more people to new sports and physical activities.

Creating

We create opportunities to discover new passions. With disability sport the old saying ‘you won’t know until you’ve tried’ has never been truer. We develop a range of taster events where people of all abilities can try different sports for the very first time.

Coaching

We provide memorable coaching experiences. Through our network of fully qualified coaches we can help you no matter what stage you’re at. From absolute beginners, right through to performance level athletes, we can connect you to coaches that will support you at every stage.

How You Can Help Us

We’re a small charity with a big ambition. The truth is we can’t do what we do without the support of a lot of people. If you’re interested in finding out how you can become a PKDS Volunteer or want to find out about partnering with us please contact our Branch Coordinator Graeme Doig - graeme@pkds.org.uk

And, of course, delivering our services and reaching our goals requires financial support as well. If you’d like to donate, we’d be really grateful. You can do so securely by clicking the our Just Giving link.

Your money will help people just like Cadyn.
